Author Q&A

What is something unique/quirky about you?
I make up songs and sing them down the phone when my friends answer or I randomly sing to animals! (Hey, I grew up on Monty Python.) I always speak to dogs before their humans!

Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
I used to act and have been on BBC tv series Casualty and at the Ustinov Theatre in Bath, Somerset, long ago...

What are some of your pet peeves?
Rudeness, ignorance and superficiality.

Where were you born/grew up at?
Bath, Somerset.

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
With my friends, both two and four-legged eating chocolate. Maybe go snowboarding for a few hours!

Who is your hero and why?
Growing up Wonder Woman was my hero! Strong, empowering and fabulous!

What kind of world ruler would you be?
I’d probably base ruling on the Star Trek philosophy! No money required but you add value by doing what you love, which enriches others.

What are you passionate about these days?
Friends, fur family, aerial arts, books obvs. Vampires and angels. Writing, dragons and swords! I do a lot of personal and spiritual development and believe that life is to be enjoyed and to. This, can be learned and is totally contrary to how I was brought up. As a writer, my job is to make readers happy, amongst other emotions but that is my primary goal.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
Read or listen to books. I love art galleries and museums, and going to the movies. I also do aerial arts, so hanging upside down has always made me feel good! Maybe I used to be a bat....

Describe yourself in 5 words or less!
Compassionate, empowering, fun.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
At school in creative writing class however I don’t come from a background where that was acceptable so only came to it later.

Rise of the Lycans! Romance, vampires, werewolves and swords!!

Which of your novels can you imagine made into a movie?
Immortal Curse working with Julie Plec and CW! Please...

What literary pilgrimages have you gone on?
Whitby for Bram’s Dracula and Glastonbury for Mary Stewart’s The Crystal Cave. I’m kind of addicted to historical fiction in dark ages Britain.

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Wolf.

A writer of Dark Urban Fantasy with a smattering of gothic horror.
What got me hooked into vampires, as a kid I secretly watched Hammer Horror films on my tv, then reading the classics, Dracula and Frankenstein. I was always more interested in the vampires than Van Helsing!
Inspiring movies, Underworld, The Lost Boys, and Blade.
My books are gritty and action-packed, taking you into the underbelly of the world of the damned, who live alongside the world of the living.
Vampires, werewolves, demons along with mythological creatures are all mixed into my stories. A balance of fantasy and reality, a world that takes you, the reader away from the mundane stresses of life. And sometimes a smattering of the philosophical to...
Dark, Sublime, Gripping Stories.
When I'm not writing, I can be found wandering in nature, reading or at the movies.
I also enjoy hanging upside down! Been doing aerial arts for about 7 years.
